Dan Da Dan Returning To Cinemas This June

Dan Da Dan
was one of the breakout anime series of 2024. Produced by acclaimed anime studio Science Saru, the series is based on the manga written by Yukinobu Tatsu, serialised in Shonen Jump Plus. The genre-bending supernatural rom-com features duo Momo and Okarun facing off against yokai, ghosts and other supernatural beasties as well as aliens.

The series made its debut as a theatrical event, First Encounter, with the first three episodes screening in cinemas. Now, to celebrate the upcoming launch of season 2, a second theatrical event has been announced. Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye kicks off the Evil Eye Arc which began in the last episode of the first season

The screening event will feature the final episode of season one and the first three episodes of season two. Additionally, it will include exclusive interviews with series co-directors Fuga Yamashiro and Abel Gongora.

The series was a major hit upon release last year, streaming on both Crunchyroll and Netflix. It won widespread critical and audience acclaim for its visually stunning animation, sharp writing and endearing characters. It even became a social media phenomenon for its opening theme Otonoke by Creepy Nuts.

Synopsis:

DAN DA DAN: EVIL EYE follows Momo, a feisty high schooler descended from spirit mediums, and her eccentric occult-obsessed classmate Okarun into a wild new arc of mystery and mayhem. This time, the duo heads to a mysterious hot springs town, staying at a house rented by Jiji — Momo’s childhood friend and former crush — to uncover the dark secrets haunting his family. But their paranormal investigation goes off the rails fast, as bizarre locals and eerie phenomena derail their plans.

What they discover is far beyond anything they were prepared for…
