Ted: The Animated Series Greenlit at Peaccock
Seth MacFarlane is one of the biggest names in animation. But beyond the enduring success of Family Guy and American Dad, he's also had some success in live-action. The most successful of which is probably Ted, and its sequel Ted 2. Now, MacFarlane is going back to his animated roots as streamer Peacock has greenlit Ted: The Animated Series.
The two movies feature a teddy bear that has magically been brought to foul-mouthed life. The bear is voiced by MacFarlane, who will be returning for the series alongside original film stars Mark Wahlberg (John), Amanda Seyfried (Sam) and Jessica Barth (Tami-Lynn). They will be joined by Kyle Mooney as Apollo and Liz Richman as Ruth.
MacFarlane will executive produce alongside Brad Walsh (Modern Family) and Paul Corrigan, both of whom also produced the recent live-action prequel series.
Not much is known about the series, but it is thought to be a sequel that will follow the events of the movies. That and that this is definitely not going to be suitable for children- unless the franchise takes a really unexpected turn.
Erica Huggins, Alana Kleiman, Jason Clark, Aimee Carlson (Fuzzy Door), and Claudia Katz (Rough Draft) also executive produce. The series is being produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studios Group, Fuzzy Door and MRC.
The films were considerable box-office hits, and the live-action prequel was very successful when it launched last year. It became Peacock's most watched original to date and was the number one original streaming comedy for more than two months. It also became the most watched US comedy on Sky in the UK in over 20 years. The first movie grossed over $549 million back in 2012, and the sequel took in $216 million. It's no wonder that NBCUniversal wants to stay in the Ted business!
