Zootopia 2/Zootropolis 2 Teaser Trailer Finally Arrives
It's been a long wait for a sequel to Zootopia. It's been just shy of a decade, in fact. This year we're finally getting Zootopia 2 - also known as Zootropolis 2 in the United Kingdom and other countries.What's taken so long? Well, we'd like to think they waited until the right story came along, rather than rushed out a sequel to the billion-dollar original. We'll find out if it paid off later this year.
Walt Disney Animation Studios has debuted the first teaser for the sequel this week. The teaser features looks at new and returning characters and reunites rookie cops Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), and teases a team up with mysterious pit viper Gary De'Snake (Ke Huy Quan).
The trailer features first looks at some on the new parts of town including the marshes, the desert, an alpine region and the frozen tundra. It teases plenty of returning faces and hints at a very scary-looking new villain.
In the film, Nick and Judy find themselves on the trail of a great mystery when Gary De'Snake arrives in Zootopia/Zootropolis and turns the whole city upside down. To crack the case, they must go undercover in new and unexpected parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before. It will also expand the range of different species involved, with reptiles, birds, amphibians, primates and marine animals featuring for the first time.
According to Disney Animation chief creative officer and director Jared Bush, who also wrote the script, a larger, expanded world is in store for fans. “We are beyond excited to welcome everyone back to the outrageous, expansive animal metropolis of Zootopia/Zootropolis, and take audiences on a hilarious, wild ride into parts of the city we’ve never visited before,” said Bush. “Whether it's the marshes of semi-aquatic mammals, the vast desert dunes or even greater mysteries beyond, our heroes, Judy and Nick, will meet a lot of new friends, and discover even more about the world, themselves and a brand-new snake in town.”
Added director Byron Howard “The trailer features the original song ‘ZUTU’ by Zootopia's/Zootropolis’ finest lemming techno group, LEMEEENS. Fresh from touring with superstar Gazelle as her opening act, members Hans-Peter, Gūnther, Spielt and their DJ, Spaß, created the song to mark the occasion and welcome the world back to the City of Zootopia/Zootropolis!” Surely these little musical critters will be the breakout stars of the sequel!
From the Oscar-winning team of Jared Bush and Byron Howard (Co-directors) and producer Yvett Merino, Zootopia 2/ Zootropolis 2 also features the voices of Fortune Feimster, Quinta Brunson and Shakira, who returns as Gazelle.
Zootopia 2/Zootropolis 2 is released in cinemas in the United States on November 26, and in the United Kingdom and Ireland on November 28.
