Genndy Tartakovsky's 'Fixed' Gets A Full Trailer
There aren't many animators who can move ably between children's animation and adult animation... and back again. One individual who is capable of doing this is animation legend Genndy Tartakovsky. From Dexter's Laboratory to Samurai Jack, via the Hotel Transylvania movies to Primal and Unicorn Warriors Eternal, Genndy is more than capable of making series for either audience. This summer, he's back, this time with his first adult animated movie.
Fixed is a 2d animated movie produced by Sony Pictures Animation (their first adult animated feature). It was initially intended to be released by Warner Bros Discovery but they got cold feet and decided to drop it. It was subsequently picked up by Netflix which will release it on August 13, 2025 worldwide.
The story follows family dog Bull. After he develops an unhealthy attachment to Grandma's leg, his family decides it's time to get "the snip". Upon learning the news that his balls are not long for this world, Bull and his friends decide to have one last great adventure together.
The first full trailer, which you can see below, gives you an idea of the film's tone. It's been censored for YouTube, but is still pretty rude. It features another dog who has recently been under the knife and Bull and his pack setting off on one final wild night.
The film stars the voices of Adam Devine as Bull, Idris Elba as Rocco, Kathryn Hahn as Honey, Fred Armisen as Fetch and Bobby Moynihan as Lucky. It also features Beck Bennett, Kari Wahlgren, Eric Bauza, Michelle Buteau and River Gallo.
Fixed is directed by Genndy Tartakovsky and written by Tartakovsky and Jon Vitti (The Simpsons Movie, King Of The Hill), based on a story by Steve Greenberg, Rich Lufrano, Genndy Tartakovsky and Jon Vitti. It is produced by Michelle Murdocca and co-produced by Christian Roedel. Music is composed by Tyler Bates and Joanne Higginbottom.
Genndy says: "Wow! What a journey! In 2010 I pitched to Sony Pictures Animation an idea of a mature themed animated movie based on my high school friends. I thought if I could caricature and enhance the personalities and relationships then the audience will find them as funny as I do. In my first pitch I focused the story and entertainment on characters rather than a high concept idea but still needed a stronger concept than the generic road trip story I was pitching. It is not often that a great idea appears effortlessly out of thin air, but that day, at that very moment, the animation Gods fired down a thunderbolt of an idea!"
"‘What if the main character, a dog, finds out he will get neutered in the morning?’"
"That was it! In my 30 years of pitching and selling never has an idea come to me so quickly and was received so fondly. An idea that in one sentence was so clear that most people smiled, or even laughed."
"Originally, I was pitching Fixed as a CG movie since a 2D feature was ‘out of the question!!!’ Incredibly enough and to everyone’s surprise we actually sold it as a 2D, hand drawn, animated feature! Loving the art of hand drawn animation as much as I do, I was elated! Giddy really. We were all set to make an original 2D, rated R, fully animated movie, truly a unicorn.”
