Moonlight Party: New Dub For Original Sailor Moon Starts Streaming This Weekend

2014 has proven to be quite the year for Sailor Moon fans so far. Not only has the new Sailor Moon Crystal series kicked off (to admittedly mixed receptions) but the original series has begun streaming on Hulu and Neon Alley via Viz. New episodes have been added every Monday (moon-day) but so far only the subtitled versions of the original series has been available. Viz has now announced that the newly dubbed episodes will begin streaming from this weekend.

The original dub version from DIC may have a nostalgic appeal for those who grew up with it, but the original series was considerably edited for US broadcast standards. A brand-new dub has been recorded for the uncut version of the show, which will be considerably more faithful to the original. Stephanie Sheh will be heading up a cast which also features Michelle Ruff,  Kate Higgins and Johnny Yong Bosch.

The first four episodes will be available from 11pm EST Friday September 5th, with the episodes 5-23 following on Sunday at 3 am EST. The premiere is being framed as a "slumber party" which explains the late start-time. It will be marked with an event called Moonlight Party: Sailor Moon Reborn which will stream on Youtube. The first Blu-ray and DVD boxset - featuring 3 discs and extensive extras will be available in North America on November 11th.
