Watch This: KISS vs Momoiro Clover Z

Rock stars with superpowers teaming up against evil. With a formula like that, how can you fail?

It’s no secret that KISS is one of the hottest bands on earth. For over 30 years, they’ve been shaking, quaking, and headbanging their way across the charts with classics like “Black Diamond,” “Hard Luck Woman,” “Detroit Rock City,” and “Rock and Roll All Nite.” Nowadays, the Demon, Starchild, Spaceman, and Catman have become household names.

Still, KISS is more than a band. They’re a force of nature. They’ve starred in comic books since the late 70s, and have appeared in dozens of comedy sketches, with some of the best coming from the KISS Halloween Special on Mad TV

These guys have even been full-blown cartoon characters.

Now, I’m not just talking about the Scooby-Doo and KISS: A Rock and Roll Mystery team-up (which was hilarious, by the way!). Oh no. I’m talking about a super-cool, super-glitzy, and just plain awesome…

Anime

That’s right. ANIME.

Back in 2015, KISS recorded a song “Yume no Ukiyo ni Saite Mi Na” (夢の浮世に咲いてみな, Try to Bloom in a Dream About the Floating World) with J-pop group Momoiro Clover Z, an all-girl Japanese idol band also known for their crazy lore and wild costumes…and the result is a real gem. While the majority of the music video is live-action blended with crazy backgrounds, the intro is 100% full color, action-packed, stylized cartoon bubblegum heavy metal art. What could be better than this? How about the fact that Sushio, one of the studios behind the gorgeous Kill La Kill, produced the animation?

Are you entertained now, mina ?
