Shaun The Sheep 'Farmageddon' Teaser Beams in

We're used to having an incredibly long wait between Aardman Animation movies, thanks to the long production time involved in creating a stop-motion feature. It seems however, that the UK's biggest animation studio is ramping up production as we will get a new movie next year, just around 18 months after the release of 2018's Early Man.

That movie is Farmageddon the long-awaited sequel to Shaun The Sheep Movie- and the first teaser trailer (and new teaser poster- see above) is now here.

The sequel is going to be quite different from the modest scope of the first Shaun The Sheep Movie which saw the woolly wonder head off for an adventure in the big city. This time, the plot revolves around the arrival of aliens on Shaun's farm.

The teaser starts off with a brilliant sequence that could come straight out of any alien invasion movie. Its surprisingly creepy sense of mood will likely remind you of the way Wallace and Gromit's films have evoked classic horror or Hitchcockian thrillers. It soon gives way to some classic Aardman gags, but it seems to indicate the film will be a step up in terms of ambition. It'll be interesting to see if the second film is also dialogue free.

Farmageddon: A Shaun The Sheep Movie is due to hit cinemas in the UK on October 18, 2019.  The US release is to be confirmed.
