Titmouse Animation Developing New Adult Animated Series For Netflix

As 2020 gets going, Netflix's commitment to animation only seems to be increasing. Fresh from sweeping the board at this month's Annie Awards, the streaming giant has announced another deal with a big name in the industry.

Titmouse Animation are known to fans for a wide range of shows such as Metalocalypse, Motorcity, Black Dynamite, Superjail and the later seasons of The Venture Brothers. The studio has inked a multi-year deal with Netflix. Although the studio has produced kids shows like Niko and The Sword Of Light, they are probably better known for their adult series such as Big Mouth.  It's the success of the latter show that has probably lead to this deal, as it will see Titmouse develop multiple original adult animated series for the streamer.

Chris Prynoski, Titmouse president and founder described the new deal in an appropriately irreverent way:

"When Netflix asked if we wanted to go steady, we were thrilled. When we asked if it could be an open relationship, they said, ‘Yeah, of course. It’s the 21st century, kid. That’s the only way we’ll have it.’ Now we are friends with benefits and I couldn’t be more stoked,  This new and exciting relationship will help quench our relentless thirst for producing animated cartoons. Excuse me, I’m gonna go carve NF+TM on a tree now.”
Under the deal, Netflix will also get first look at any adult animated series created and developed at the studio. The "open relationship" will also allow Titmouse to continue working with other broadcasters and streaming services such as Adult Swim and Amazon, which the company already has working relationships with.

Titmouse has an impressive filmography so it will be interesting to see what treats they can bring to Netflix's already impressive animation catalogue.  Already on their way (and predating the new deal) are three more seasons of Big Mouth and The Midnight Gospel,  from Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward and comedian Duncan Trussell.
