The Crunchyroll Anime Awards Come To Japan in 2023

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards are an annual celebration of the best in Japanese animation. With the shortlist chosen by an expert jury and the winners selected by fans, this year's event attracted a record 16.9 million votes from around the world. With categories such as Best Boy and Best Girl alongside the expected Anime Of The Year and Best Film they're not your usual stuffy awards ceremony, either.

Crunchyroll have this week announced that the event will be coming to Japan for the first time in 2023. The Anime Awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Tokyo. The ceremony will be streamed across many of Crunchyroll's social channels.

The event will bring together the studios, creators, voice actors and musicians behind the community's favourite series, films and music. More than just another awards ceremony, Crunchyroll aims for it to be a spectacular "international outpouring of affection for anime" and promises it will be full of fans, creators, celebrities, musicians and performances.

"There is no better place to celebrate the Anime Awards than the birthplace of anime itself," said Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll. "Anime is a rich storytelling medium, capturing the hearts and minds of fans all over the world. We can’t wait to showcase how much love the global anime fanbase has for the studios, creators, and our trusted partners behind anime."

Nominations and voting for the 7th annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards will open early next year.
