The Annecy International Animation Film Festival is the Cannes of the animation world. For seven days every summer the alpine town of Annecy in France becomes the centre of the animation world. The big names in the industry come to the town to preview their upcoming projects and to celebrate the art of animation.
We've already revealed the line-up of shorts screening in competition in the official, off-limits and young audience selection. Now the feature film selection has been revealed, alongside the Contrechamps selection. The Graduation Films, TV and Commissioned Films have also been revealed since we published our initial article.
The feature film selection includes films from France, Italy, Australia, Canada, Belgium, Japan, China, Chile, Germany, Peru, Brazil, South Korea and more. The films include 2D animation, stop-motion and CG.
Additionally, several feature films will be screening out of competition. The Bad Guys 2, Animal Farm, Pets On A Train, Goat and Fixed will all screen. There will also be a special preview event for Zootopia 2, Pixar Animation Studios Spotlight: From Elio To Beyond, and Next On Netflix Animation: from Stranger Things to In Your Dreams. Cartoon Network celebrates 25 years in a special panel, while BoJack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg hosts a masterclass.
Screening as "midnight specials" are All You Need Is Kill, Another World, Heart of Darkness, Mononoke The Movie: Chapter II – The Ashes of Rage and Nightmare Bugs.
This year's Annecy Festival runs from June 8 until June 14.
