Crunchyroll Reveal New Anime At Anime Expo and Japan Expo



Summer is, among other things, traditionally convention season. Fans of popular culture gather together to celebrate their passions. This past July 4th weekend saw one of the biggest- Anime Expo in Los Angeles, while The Japan Expo ran in Paris, France from July 3-6. As arguably the biggest name in anime right now, Crunchyroll was in attendance at both, and held its annual Industry Panel.

During the panels, the company announced several new acquisitions coming to its streaming service, which included several first looks for anticipated titles, as well as official production confirmations revealed to the world for the first time.

Black Clover will be returning for an all-new season only on Crunchyroll. Production studio Pierrot will be returning to produce the show. A message from the original creator Yuki Tabata was delivered to the attendees in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the original manga.

“The production of the long-awaited new anime season of Black Clover has been confirmed! I'm beyond ecstatic going into the new anime season after the super-passionate movie that came out! Thanks to all of you, Black Clover is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! I definitely plan to keep this hype going! Daemons Of The Shadow Realm, the currently running manga by renowned author Hiromu Arakawa (Fullmetal Alchemist) will be adapted into an anime by bones. The series will be directed by Masahiro Ando (Sword of the Stranger). It is described as “an otherworldly fantasy where mystery and the uncanny intertwine.”



The hugely popular fantasy anime series Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will return for a season 2. Crunchyroll confirmed that they have acquired the streaming rights and it will be simulcast in January 2026.

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, is confirmed for a Season 4 that will stream on Crunchyroll in 2026. The series is produced by studio White Fox (Steins;Gate) and with Masahiro Shinohara returning to direct after Season 3.

A teaser trailer was revealed for the third season of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, which will stream in 2026. The series is produced by Studio Bind, and is renowned for its beautiful animation.

Classroom Of The Elite Season 3 is getting a follow-up in the form of Classroom Of The Elite 2nd Year. The anime is produced by Lerche, and is "coming soon" to Crunchyroll. Additionally, Classroom of the Elite - Merge Puzzle Spacial Exam has been added to the Crunchyroll Game Vault. Playable for the first time outside of Japan, the game is free of microtransactions, ads and in-app purchases.

Tojima Wants To Be A Kamen Rider will stream on Crunchyroll "next fall". Animated by LIDENFILMS, directed by Takahiro Ikezoe, based on a manga by Yokusaru Shibata, and with series composition written by Toko Machida. The series tells the story of a 40-year-old, who is ready to give up on his dream of becoming a Kamen Rider, until a robbery changes everything.



New romantic comedy You and I Are Polar Opposites will launch in January 2026 on Crunchyroll.  The series is being created by Lapin Track with Takayoshi Nagatomo (episode director on SHOSHIMIN: How to become Ordinary) stepping into the director's chair. Adapted from the manga of the same name by Kocha Agasawa, the series composition is written by Teruko Utsumi (Pokémon: Paldean Winds). 

Beyond acquisitions, exclusive footage was screened from Sentenced To Be a Hero. Produced by Studio Kai. The series is based on the "Sentenced to Be a Hero" novel series by Rocket Shokai, a dark fantasy where Heroes—criminals sentenced to heroism/service in a penal military unit—must wage war against a demon king's army. The series will debut on Crunchyroll in January 2026.

Crunchyroll will screen Sink Your Teeth: A Tokyo Ghoul Celebration, a selection of episodes from Season one of Tokyo Ghoul on the big screen for one day only July 21, in the United States. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures will release the compilation film, consisting of 1, 5, 8, 10, 11, and 12 from the first season. The film will be available dubbed in English.
