K-Pop Demon Hunters Coming to Cinemas For One Weekend Only

In today's market, it can seem pretty arbitrary which films get a theatrical release and which go direct to streaming. Sony Pictures Animation must now be wondering if they missed a trick by selling K-Pop Demon Hunters to Netflix. In case you've been living under a rock, the film has become a massive hit since its release in June. It has worked its way up to being Netflix's biggest ever animated original, as well as the second biggest ever English-language original. Not only that, but the soundtrack has been a smash hit, generating a number one single in the US and the UK.

As the film has proven such a success, many viewers have bemoaned the fact that they didn't get the chance to see the film in cinemas. Netflix have now announced that there will indeed be a chance to catch the film on the big screen- in select countries for a very limited time.

Fans in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom will be able to watch the film in a special Sing-along edition on Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24 only. Tickets are on sale now.

K-Pop Demon Hunters features the K-Pop girl-band Huntr/x, who perform bangers by day and moonlight as demon hunters by night. They must face their biggest foe yet- a rival boyband that are in reality demons in disguise.

The film is directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, with a script penned by Danya Jimenez, Hannah McMechan, Kang, and Appelhans. The voice cast features Arden Cho, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Ahn Hyo-seop, Yunjin Kim, Joel Kim Booster, Liza Koshy, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, and Byung Hun Lee.

It features original songs performed by EJAE, AUDREY NUNA, REI AMI, Andrew Choi, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo, samUIL Lee, Neckwav, and Lea Salonga.
