Toy Story 5 Teaser Trailer Drops
Toy Story 3 was commonly seen as a perfect end to the trilogy. With its resonant themes of growing up and moving on and the power of friendship, it moved millions. The announcement that there was going to be a Toy Story 4 was met with bemusement and disappointment. When the film eventually came out, it was met with a decidedly mixed reception. Some found it to be an enjoyable addition to the franchise, while others felt it a sequel too far.
The latter won't have been too impressed to hear the news that Toy Story 5 is coming. Now, the first teaser trailer for the film has been released.
Those who have seen the fourth movie, might be surprised to see Woody, last seen riding into the sunset with Bo-Peep. Didn't it work out? Or are we just doing a complete retcon and pretending Toy Story 4 never happened? Because Forky is there, so it doesn't make any sense. We may be overthinking it...
The film deals with the Toys having to deal with the arrival of competition from electronics. In the teaser, Bonnie opens her new tablet, while the toys look on in horror.
The tablet is Lillypad, a high-tech frog-shaped device that is voiced by Greta Lee (Past Lives, Tron Ares). Tom Hanks returns as Woody (somehow), Tim Allen is back as Buzz Lightyear, Joan Cusack returns as Jessie, Tony Hale is back as Forky and Conan O'Brien joins the cast as toilet training tech toy Smarty Pants.
Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton directs, with Kenna Harris as co-director. Lyndsey Collins is producer.
The directors say “It’s been a hilarious and poignant journey exploring how our favorite team of legacy toys might respond to today’s world of technology, and we’re thrilled to share this first glimpse with audiences. Having the remarkably talented Greta Lee bring Lilypad to life — balancing a playfully antagonistic tone with humor and heart — has been incredible.”
Toy Story 5 hits cinemas on both side of the pond on June 19, 2026.
