'Trolls World Tour Trailer' is Here, And It Rocks

For a movie based on a toy brand that hasn't really been that relevant since the '90s, DreamWorks Animation's Trolls was a pleasant surprise. While the toys they are based on are (let's face it) pretty ugly, the movie featured an appealing visual style with colourful characters and gorgeous textures. Throw in a pretty anarchic feel and a toe-tapping soundtrack and really  2016's Trolls was better than it had any right to be.

The movie wasn't a huge smash but its $368 million box-office take was enough to greenlight a sequel, Trolls World Tour for next year. The first trailer, along with a few new images, is here.

The trailer starts by reprising one of the stand-out moments of the original with Anna Kendrick's character Poppy singing the Simon and Garfunkle classic The Sound Of Silence. This time, she's interrupted by the sound of an electric guitar and the arrival of a mysterious stranger, Queen Barb ( voiced by Rachel Bloom).

Poppy and Branch soon discover that they are just one of six different tribes of trolls- each one representing a different style of music: Funk, Country, Techno, Classical, Pop and Rock. Barb hails from the Rock tribe, and along with her father King Thrash (voiced by Rock legend Ozzy Osborne), they aim to destroy all other types of music.

Trolls World Tour is directed by Walt Dohrn and will hit US cinemas on April 17, 2020. Check out the trailer below.
